500/80 Rotary Shredder |
| |
Universal
Rotary Shredder with two high tensile shafts, each independently
driven via heavy duty, double helically geared 4 shaft
gear boxes. Diesel powered unit, easily converted to
twin electric drives if desired. 18 cutters in total
of 5 teeth each, very comprehensive hard facing with
hardened spacers between each.
|
| |
|
| |
-
Initially designed for primary shredding of tyres
including all passenger car sizes, 4 x 4, up to
light truck sizes incl. 8.25 x 16
- Cutter
speed variable to max. of around 30 RPM depending
on engine speed and transmission gears selected
- All
controls to clutch, throttle, and other operating
systems are via electro pneumatic switch gear, all
are set up to react to “E” stop stations.
Any emergency stop will automatically “kill”
all rotating components, including conveyors and
main driveline.
-
Fully operational system comes complete with all
3 conveyors as shown, including the external motorized
slewing unit.
Spares and a full set of drawings will be included
as a package.

Design
features & performance |

 |
| |
-
Self contained 120 hp (47kw) diesel power, driving
via a manual transmission with 3 forward gears (2
used for high & low cutting), and a reversing
gear. A multi shaft gear box, each giving around
72:1 reduction, drives each shaft via cogged belts.
As an option, drives may be fitted with electric
motors if desired. (22 kw each)
-
Unique split chamber as depicted, enables rapid
removal of the main shredder shafts for service.
These are installed in fully assembled condition,
pre tensioned with couplings, bearings, oil seals,
cutters and spacers etc. ready to run.
-
In top gear at 1800 motor RPM, the machine will
handle 2,200 car tires per hour (around 20 tons)
The chamber is fed via an inclined conveyor, where
the tyres are seized by a train of 3 rollers per
side. These rollers are pneumatically forced in
on tracks, thus driving the tyres vertically through
the cutter array, no hesitation whatsoever.
-
The cutters are our own design of Bisalloy 360,
all the edges are prepped and hard faced at 60-62R.C.
as an average. Est. around 600,000 tires lifespan
before servicing easily achieved. See the specifications
for full details.

Conveyor
system as fitted |

-
All conveyors depicted are part of the package.
Above is shown the out feed unit. The whole unit
is a traversing type, motorized ground wheels enabling
the loading of various transporters from end to
end, without constantly moving the vehicle. Sensors
are fitted to preset the arc of sweep required.
This conveyor is fed via the unit under the chamber,
which is reversible to enable product to be sent
to an alternate destination. The under chamber,
and main out feed conveyors are interlinked at the
control station, both responding to the emergency
stop circuit.
-
Feeding the shredder is a fixed (adjustable) inclined
conveyor with a feeding speed of 30 metres per minute.
This enables tyres to be loaded quickly, and with
a width of 1300mm, car tyres are loaded in a staggered
pattern ensuring swift and constant shredding.
-
All conveyors are powered by Eurotherm S.E.W. motor/gearboxes,
with final drive via chains & sprockets, to
enable ratio adjustment.
-
All controls located on a master console, with remote
“E” stops

R12 reo bars staggered around each roller to ensure
maximum grip & drive is transmitted to tyres entering
the cutting chamber. Cutter array is also visible, 18
in total of 80mm thickness, cutting overlap is 14mm.
Opposed cutter clearance is .1mm (.004”) to ensure
clean shearing of tyres. |

500/80 Rotary Shredder Specifications:
|
| |
Cutting
Chamber: |
| |
-
Shafts: 8” (203mm) hexagonal. Forged 4140,
machined & ground to specs.
-
Cutters: 360 Bisalloy, profiled, 12mm x 45deg. weld
prep all round, capped with 309 Stainless weld,
2 overlapping runs & 1 capping run of 650G hard
facing. All cutters wash ground to a tolerance of
.03mm. Around 62 R.C.
-
Spacers between bearings & chamber, for seal
faces, between cutters, and all end caps: All are
4140, fully gas nitrided & ground to specs.
-
Bearings: SKF 23232 CE4 C3 spherical roller type.
4 in total.
-
Chamber: All boiler plate fabrication, bearing housings
from 8” thick solid. All weldments are 8mm
fillets, all gussets fully welded. Chamber halves
are fully machined top & bottom, bearing bores
are done in pairs, “A” end bored to
shoulders (fixed end), opposite “B”
end are floated bearings.
-
Studs: Clamping upper & lower chamber are custom
made 4140 H.T.
-
In feed rollers: Are gear driven at either end,
each successive roller is 50mm closer to centre
than previous, giving a funnel effect. Each set
has pneumatic cylinders at each end for positive
drive (50mm travel for either set) The rollers are
heavy wall tube of 6.75” dia. (170mm) around
each is 8 equally spaced pieces of 12mm deformed
reo bar for traction.

Transmission: |
| |
-
Diesel; Perkins 6/354 dot 4, injector pump updated
to stationary specs. Coupled to a New Process transmission,
via a 14” single dry plate clutch. Clutch
is controlled using a flow controlled pneumatic
cylinder. From the rear of the NP gear box, drive
is through a Fenner A90 tireflex coupling to the
main shaft. This shaft of 60mm dia. is carried on
3, UCF 311 bearings, and drives the “B”
end reverse gearbox via a H300 timing belt. From
the main shaft, under the structure, the power is
transmitted across to an aux. shaft for the “A”
end via 4 SPBX cogged belts. This shaft then drives
the “A” end gear box through a H300
timing belt. Ratios selected ensure there is a differential
in shaft speeds i.e. if one shaft in chamber has
completed 24 revs, the other will have done 23 revs.
This ensures we maintain a constant changeable cutting
action, utilizing the entire cutting edge, not just
a localized shearing point.
